I just want to wish everyone a Merry Chimble. I remember when we had things like the Advent Calender & plenty of people & great comments & opinions here at the pub. It's been rather quiet here now, but I still want to wish everyone a Merry Chrimble & a Happy & Better New Year.

Garry Mimble to you too, Joe!
As Johnny Clarke said the other evening: You won't be able to get advent calendars next year. You know that, right? Their days are numbered.

Thanks, Chespo. I like that pun. It reminds me of what I heard on Sounds of the Sixties recently: "Did you see the loaf in the zoo cage. It was bread in captivity." Here's a piccy of the late Diana Rigg because, let's face she was better looking than Tony Blackburn

Season's Greetings to all! Ah yes, the Karma Scene Advent Calendar, those were the days. So we're exchanging puns this year? Well, why is dog like a cell phone? They both have collar ID!
But (ahem) seriously, it wouldn't be Christmas for me without this. It's the less-frequently heard alternate version and it has an incomparable video.

Great videoTed. I haven't seen it before either. I can't believe how a person can make so many moves while remixing seated.

A rough year, for obvious and not-so-obvious reasons. But Betty Grable to all still lingering here (I don't mind a quieter pub, myself) and a very Newell year to everyone.

I'm glad the Kate video went down so well. It's from a 1979 BBC Abba special, if you can believe it.
I got around to the second part of that Andy Partridge/Chris Butler podcast and it alerted me to something I'd totally missed: Who knew there was a Monkees Christmas album in 2018? Who knew the single from the album was an Andy Partridge song? Who knew the demo of the single was by Andy and his daughter Holly?

I could believe that Kate Bush was a guest on that 1979 Abba special since another guest was actually Rixy Music. Never confuse the unusual w/the impossible. I did know that the Monkees put out a Chrimble record a couple of years ago, but I never got around to checking it out. Merry Christmas, Ted

As the holiday season gradually recedes, I want to salute the lovely Eye Tunes Band video of 'Christmas In Suburbia'. Very charming and well-constructed. I recognized all the listed participants with the exception of Ian Peppercorn. Did he appear at some point or was he only an audio contributor? And if Fripp and Toyah ever tire of being Britain's wackiest rock couple, I think Kimberley Rew and Lee Cave-Berry could step right in! Simply adorable. Speaking of adorable, I did some research on Holly Partridge and she's been active over the years - lots of stuff on Soundcloud, all of it worthwhile. Fun fact - Andy Partridge's daughter used to be a band with Pete Townsend's daughter Tiffiny. Okay, okay, this is average bloke Pete Townsend from Swindon, not the Who guitarist (who as we all know has an 'h' in his name and no daughter named Tiffiny). Still, what are the odds? Holly P

Still hanging on to that Christmas feeling - I thought I'd alert you all to this recent effort from our old ami Jacky Lurton. He's done a French version of the Guv's song 'Carol' and it's tres bien! Une Chanson de Plus
And don't forget Martin's own 'Ghosts of Christmas' which is easy to overlook as it appears only on A Kool Kat Kristmas Vol 2 from 2019 Ghosts of Christmas
And here's a puzzle/challenge for you - I have an mp3 of a not-properly-released Newell song called 'The Faint Regret of the Bachelorette' and I don't remember where it's from! I think it came off Soundcloud, but it's not there anymore. I'm usually better at keeping track of this stuff. I got it in late 2016 but it certainly could be earlier vintage. Ho Ho Help!
