As tempting as this is, it comes at an awkward time for me. I have a date with Robert Fripp on Monday night in Philadelphia and a family wedding in Boston on Friday. Adding a Wednesday trip to NYC is just too much larking about the East Coast for me. A 'reel' shame!

Few things sound less romantic than a date with Robert Fripp. When the larks' tongues in aspic course arrives he's sat on a stool 15 feet away in an unlit corner of the restaurant.

Ted, here's Plan B for seeing the movie. If there's a film festival near you, find out who organizes it & tell them about the movie & have them contact Martin. That's what I did & hopefully I can see the film here in Witch City. Also, you're going to be in Boston on Friday? If you don't mind asking, will the wedding be in Boston itself or a nearby town?

Running with the 'lark' reference...well done you! Just to inject a bit of morbid trivia, Fripp's girlfriend in the '70s was the mysterious poet Joanna Walton. They broke up and he married Toyah, but Joanna later perished in the Lockerbie bombing.

The wedding is near the center of Boston. Maybe you could recommend the best record store downtown? I did think of approaching the art house cinema in Bethlehem PA about screening Upstairs Planet. I guess for now I'll have to comfort myself with the soundtrack CD that arrived yesterday.

Ted, if you asked me about record stores in Downtown Boston 15-20 yrs. ago, I would have told you about a few places, like Tower Records, HMV, Strawberries & a bunch of used shops on Newbury St. Today, the only place I can think of is Nuggets, a used store that probably is still in Kenmore Sq. down the street from where the Rat used to be. There's also a few branches of Newbury Comics around, but they have basically reduced their music for pop culture trinkets. They have a lot of the new overpriced vinyl. Have a groovy time in Boston. I went to school there (several institutions of higher education) & I used to romp around there starting in high school. Lately, however, my relationship w/Boston is like Martin's w/London.

Joe, I paid a visit to Nuggets. They had a lot of stuff but sadly nothing to match my rarefied needs. There was a copy of Greatest Living Englishman filed under XTC! The wedding was in a craft distillery which I reckon is the new normal.

Ted, it's nice to know that Nuggets is still there. That's where my friend Barrence worked before he got together w/Peter Greenberg, formerly of the Lyres, to start up the Savages. You also had great weather in Boston this past weekend. The tourist season is here in full force here in the Witch City. There was a 2 day Food Truck thingie in the Common down the street from me that had a lot of people.
