Ducking into the pub to enquire whether anyone else has noticed that the tracks on last years's welcome digital reissue of Going To England happen to be in mono?
I seem to recall my long lost Jarmusic CD version was stereo.

...and on a related note, the newly refreshed (by Jodie Lowther?) cover art for various CFV back catalogue items, as now displayed on Apple Music, Spotify etc, looks fantastic.

Those new cover images do look great! That does look like Jodie's work -- she told me a little while back that she's been really interested in stamp art and she has a collection, and they really are the coolest things.
Wish I could help with the mono recording issue, though . . .

I've got absolutely no idea. At one point during the mastering someone found a sound drop out on Girl on a Swing. I fixed
There was a track which had actually been removed from the album and replaced with another. I had to remedy this.
The whole thing of trying to re-assemble the thing was a massive arse-ache from start to finish. I didn't even want to
take it on, given the obstacles which faced me. Fans and completists however, were hassling, so we said. Okay we'll
try to assemble it. We got it up as a download and as soon as we'd done it, people were asking about CDs.
I just thought, until I get something better to master from, there's no way THAT's gonna happen.
I don't know who's got the masters. I do have vinyl album of it but remastering from that will need better kit than
I have. The best thing I had to master from was, yep a Jarmusic CD. Complete three tracks made in 1985 in another studio with other musicians. It was stereo however. Fuck knows what happened. Yet another part of the wonderful tapestry of my music output.

Funny how Joachim put 'Gamma Ray Blue' on that CD instead of 'You Must Be Out of My Mind'. I suppose the only proper CD to contain 'Mind' would be the wonderful 'Back From The Cleaners' on Tangerine. Those three bonus tracks would make a nice set with the never-on-CD trio of 'Summer Tamarind' download songs. But what I'd really like would be for Lol Elliot to cough up the tape of 'The Meltdown Watusi', a very early Cleaners song that Martin has praised but that almost no one has heard. If 'The Trevor Rutter Experience' could make a comeback, so could the Watusi!

Thank you Martin for the straight dope. Next time I see a copy of the Jarmusic CD appear for sale somewhere, I'm buying the bastard. And I'll happily Paypal some dough-re-mi your way.
Yeah ageingted, Joachim's choices were puzzling at times. I do still have my Tangerine Golden Cleaners/Back From The Cleaners CDs, thankfully.

I have nothing useful to add, just a question for Robin: what's the origin of your profile photo? Here where I live (Charlottesville, VA), there's a public chalkboard wall which looks very much like that one.

Chespo: *ding ding ding ding*
(I pay semi-regular visits to C-ville and yes indeed that's the chalkboard wall on the downtown mall.)

In that case, it seems that we're overdue for a meeting of the local fan club chapter. All together now: "…When you're not near to us, we're bluell / Oh Martin, we love youell."
